Be comfortable and relax
Wear comfortable clothing that will allow easy access to the knees, elbows, abdomen and back. It is best not to eat a heavy meal before a treatment.
Initial Treatment
The first treatment will last up to 75 minutes. It begins with an in-depth discussion of your health, includng questions about your main health issue, digestion, lifestyle, diet, and sleep habits. The more information you can provide, the better your treatment can be customized for you.
You will receive a front and a back treatment. The front treatment starts with reading your pulse and tongue as well as gentle abdominal palpation. All of these give me an idea of root imbalance. The back treatment starts with needling points on your back and legs and ends with a few minutes of Tui Na, a therapeutic form of Chinese bodywork. Healing Touch Energy work is incorporated into each treatment.
After the intake interview, lie back, relax, and enjoy the time to yourself! It is common to fall asleep during a treatment. Frequent side effects after a treatment are feelings of relaxation, peacefulness, and calm.
Follow-up treatments
The initial treatment starts the healing journey toward balance. As a general rule, the longer you have had a condition, the longer the treatment time will be. For long-term conditions, you might notice improvement immediately which lasts a short time but severity is decreased when symptoms return.
Follow-up treatments last 50-60 minutes. I will ask a few questions about your progress and how you are doing that day. Then the treatment begins.
Maintenance
Regular acupuncture treatments are a great preventative tool in healthcare. Once initial imbalances are corrected, acupuncture will help you maintain good health and balance in your life. Problems often arise with our health due to stress response, poor sleep, weak immune system, and overwork. Acupuncture works to minimize the problems that arise from coping with everyday life.
In general, I recommend monthly maintenance treatments. If that does not fit into your budget, seasonal treatments are encouraged to help your body adapt at times of seasonal energy shifts.
If a tight budget is stopping you from getting treatment, do not hesitate to let me know! I will work with you.
In addition to conventional methods of treatment, I accept United Healthcare Insurance if your policy covers acupuncture. I also accept payment with FSA/HSA cards.
